Young Savers

The St Albans Community Bank

Maple Young Savers’ Club is now held on Friday mornings from 8.30am to 8.45am in the resources room.

We are delighted to announce that our very own school bank ‘Maple Young Savers’ is back up and running, under the new name The St Albans Community Bank.

For any new parents, this is a great chance for children to open and pay weekly into a real savings account, and earn interest as well as popular goodies along the way.

Here at Maple School we have a  “The St Albans Community Bank”   Young Savers’ Club.

Young Savers’ Club

Here at Maple School we have a “Treasure Chest” Young Savers’ Club run in partnership with St Albans District Credit Union. We believe that it is important for the children to have a good understanding of money and of the importance of saving wisely. To this end the Bank comes to the school. The children handle the process of depositing small sums of money themselves and then withdrawing some of it , with parental approval, for something special or important.

The children are encouraged in this endeavour by receiving some modest incentive gifts when reaching various milestones.

We hold a collection point every Tuesday morning between 08:20 and 08:45 in the Resources Room.

Membership is free to all young savers. If you would like your child to become a Treasure Chest Young Saver do come along one Tuesday morning to collect a joining form. The minimum opening deposit is £1.

On joining all Young Savers will receive their Treasure Chest Savings Card which is the child’s record of all deposits and withdrawals. Each young saver will be given their unique Credit Union membership number. They will receive interest on their savings which is paid towards the end of the school year.

When the school is closed, or when your child leaves the school, all transactions can continue at the Community Bank office at55 ,Catherine Street, St Albans, AL3 5EN.

The St Albans Community Bank, which is run mostly by volunteers of and for the community, has now been operating for over ten years and many many adults have taken advantage of its services of savings and loans. If you would like further information please ring the office on 859135.
