Library
Our school library plays an important role in reading development at Maple school. Our aim is to entice and encourage children into the wonderful world of books and develop a lifelong reading for pleasure culture. Our substantial collection of books is suitable for the ages and reading levels of all students, giving them access to a wide range of picture books, graphic novels, early chapter books, novels and non-fiction texts.
We have specifically curated the library to include a variety of authors and genres from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We want to celebrate our diversity at Maple and for children to pick up books in our library and see themselves and their own lives reflected back at them.
Classes are timetabled to use our school library on a weekly basis. This time gives children a chance to browse for books they are interested in and discover new authors and genres.
We also have a lunchtime library club, run by our year 6 pupils where children can come and enjoy some quiet time reading at lunch.
