Awards
Maple Primary School is the winner of the Modeshift STARS which is a national award scheme that offers support and rewards schools for taking steps to promote safer, greener, healthier travel. By being part of the Modeshift STARS scheme, Maple School have shown that they are able to produce an achievable action plan. Our four Modeshift STARS ambassadors (pupils from years 5 and 6) regularly plan ‘Walk to School’ and ‘Wheels to School’ events. They promote the ‘Be Safe be Seen’ campaign. They also organise a ‘Clean Air Day’ once a year. To achieve our Silver Award the Modeshift STARS were able to demonstrate that they have in place a ‘Very Good Travel Plan’. They were successful in delivering 20 Sustainable Travel Initiatives, 10 Supporting Initiatives and 7 Consultation Initiatives
This year, Maple achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year. The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
